2018 SWA Letter to Members Re:New Tank Project

Posted on Mar 26, 2019

In October of 2017, the Sugarloaf Water Association board presented the proposed water storage tank
project that was recommended in the 2014 Capital Improvement Plan update. To recap from last year’s
meeting, the plan calls for additional water storage in order to meet peak demand periods and to
reduce the reliance on the Carrabassett River, especially during snowmaking operations and to improve
system resiliency, operational flexibility and fire protection for the Village area. Working with Wright
Pierce Engineers to review options, the SWA Board has acknowledged the support of the membership
received at last year’s meeting and is proceeding towards construction of a new 300,000 gallon water
storage tank located to serve the central village zone.
